For this year's vacation we finally decided to tackle
France, the last big European country that we (with the exception of Mark when
he was in college) had not visited. Helping make our decision was the viewing in
New York during last year's vacation of the movie Monte Carlo, which got the
girls really interested in seeing the Eiffel Tower. We were also benefitting
from Mark's six week sabbatical he earned for staying with Adobe for ten years,
so we could take a longer vacation than normal. Which is good, because plane
tickets these days aren't cheap!
We decided to start in Nice so that the girls could
actually see Monte Carlo, as that was what had sparked their interest, and then
work up the country towards Paris.
